HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Corporal Dan Foot of the United States Marine Corps was born on March 28, 1983 and has lived in Elmhurst, Ill. since 1989; he is a student pursuing a degree in business finance at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Foot is a member of Lima Company, Third Battalion, 25th Marines, based in Columbus, Ohio, a unit that has fought many front-line battles; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Foot joined the Marine Corps Reserve in the spring of 2002 after talking to Marines shortly after the September 11 terrorist attacks; he arrived for duty in Iraq on March 3, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Foot was awarded the Purple Heart, as well as two additional star decorations to be worn on the medal to symbolize injuries he sustained on 3 different occasions while in combat; he was among the Marines honored by Vice President Dick Cheney on October 4, 2005 at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Foot is registered in the Marine Corps Reserves until 2010; although he is not expected to return to combat, if then necessary, for at least 2 years, his orders are subject to change; and

WHEREAS, Family members describe Corporal Foot as "on-task", goal-oriented, considerate, and having strong faith; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Corporal Dan Foot of the U.S. Marine Corps for his distinguished and continuing service to his county; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Corporal Dan Foot as a token of our esteem.
