HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois congratulate Shirley Stewart, Interim Vice
4 President for Student Affairs at Eastern Illinois University in
5 Charleston, on her retirement December 31, 2004; and
 
6     WHEREAS, In 1998, Shirley was chosen by President Lou
7 Hencken, who was then serving as Vice President for Student
8 Affairs, to serve as Associate Vice President for Student
9 Affairs; she simultaneously continued to work as Director of
10 the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union; in 2001, when Lou
11 Hencken was named President at Eastern, Shirley took on the
12 position of Interim Vice President for Student Affairs; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Prior to joining Eastern, she worked at Lake Land
14 College in Mattoon from 1975-1988; in her last position at Lake
15 Land, she served as Director of the Career Planning and
16 Placement Office, a position she held for seven years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She is a 1969 graduate of Stephen Decatur High
18 School; she received a B.A. in Elementary Education, an M.S. in
19 Educational Psychology and Guidance, and completed eighteen
20 hours toward a Specialist in Education degree at Eastern
21 Illinois University; and
 
22     WHEREAS, She served on numerous university committees and
23 was a member of several professional associations; therefore,
24 be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we offer our congratulations to Shirley Stewart on her
28 retirement and express our sincere appreciation for her 29
29 years of service to Lake Land College and Eastern Illinois
30 University; and be it further

2 presented to Shirley Stewart as an expression of our esteem.
