| WHEREAS, New Tang Dynasty TV's (NTDTV) 2006 Chinese New |

| Year Global Gala has expanded to 16 major cities in Europe, |
| 4 |
| Asia, Australia, and North America, with an expected live |
| 5 |
| audience of 50,000 worldwide and 200 million viewing the galas |
| 6 |
| on satellite, cable television, and the Internet; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, NTDTV is the world's largest Chinese-language |
| 8 |
| television network outside China and Taiwan; headquartered in |
| 9 |
| New York, New York, NTDTV currently has reporters and |
| 10 |
| correspondents in over 50 cities worldwide; the aim of the Gala |
| 11 |
| is to celebrate China's magnificent heritage and foster |
| 12 |
| cross-cultural understanding between the East and West; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, In Illinois, NTDTV is celebrating the Chinese New |
| 14 |
| Year at the Arie Crown Theater McCormick Place on Saturday, |
| 15 |
| February 4, 2006; the evening will showcase the beauty and |
| 16 |
| grace of China's classical heritage as well as the West's great |
| 17 |
| artistic traditions; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The New Year Gala is a rich, meaningful cultural |
| 19 |
| event promoting cross-cultural understanding; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we recognize New Tang Dynasty Television's 2006 Chinese New |
| 23 |
| Year Global Gala, and we extend our best wishes for the new |
| 24 |
| year to all citizens; and be it further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to New Tang Dynasty Television as an expression of |
| 27 |
| our esteem.
