HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois wish to congratulate Mayor John J. Sinde on
4 his exemplary service to the Village of Westchester; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mayor Sinde has served the Village for the past
6 four decades; he moved to Westchester in 1963 and served as
7 President of the Westchester Park District Board from 1973 to
8 1981; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was elected Village President on April 7, 1981
10 and has been re-elected five times; he also served as Chairman
11 of the North Central Council of Mayors for ten years; and
 
12     WHEREAS, During his 24 years as Village President, he has
13 made numerous contributions to the Westchester community; some
14 notable accomplishments made during his tenure include the
15 construction of the five towers in the Westbrook Corporate
16 Center, the new Administration Building and Police Complex, the
17 new fire station and new equipment, particularly the aerial
18 truck and new ambulance, the first lighted baseball diamond and
19 tennis courts, the reconstruction of streets such as
20 Westchester Boulevard, Mayfair, and Canterbury, the
21 installation of the badly needed new post office, the two
22 million gallon water tower, the Children's Memorial Hospital,
23 and the swimming pool for the children; and
 
24     WHEREAS, He married Marilyn Honeyman on September 11, 1954;
25 they have three children, John Anthony, Kimberly Marie, and
26 James Michael; and
 
27     WHEREAS, He is a past President of the Mary Jane Kennedy
28 PTA and the Westchester Band Parents; he was a member of the
29 Westchester Boys Baseball Board and Baseball Manager when his
30 sons played; he was Manager of Pee Wees for 21 years; he

1 umpired the Westchester Girls Softball Team for 8 years;
2 ballroom dancing, bowling, and golf are among his favorite
3 pastimes and he is still active as a crossing guard at Divine
4 Providence School; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we commend John Sinde on the occasion of his retirement as
8 President of the Village of Westchester, we thank him for his
9 many years of outstanding public service and community
10 involvement, and we wish him all the best in his retirement;
11 and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Mayor John J. Sinde as an expression of our
14 admiration and esteem.
