SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

510 ILCS 5/2.19a

Amends the Animal Control Act. In the definition of "serious physical injury", includes injury or death to an animal as well as a person. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning animals, which may be referred to as Marty's Law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Animal Control Act is amended by changing Section 2.19a as follows:

(510 ILCS 5/2.19a)

Sec. 2.19a. "Serious physical injury" means a physical injury to a person or an animal that creates a substantial risk of death or that causes death, serious or protracted disfigurement, protracted impairment of health, impairment of the function of any bodily organ, or plastic surgery.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
