SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

820 ILCS 320/3

Amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act. Defines "catastrophic injury" as consequences of an injury that permanently prevent an individual from performing any gainful work. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning employment.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Safety Employee Benefits Act is amended by changing Section 3 as follows:

Sec. 3. Definitions Definition. For the purposes of this Act:

"Firefighter" , the term "firefighter" includes, without limitation, a licensed emergency medical technician (EMT) who is a sworn member of a public fire department.

"Catastrophic injury" means consequences of an injury that permanently prevent an individual from performing any gainful work.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
