SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/12-205.2 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code.. Provides that, on and after September 1, 2007, implements of husbandry manufactured before January 1, 2003 and operated on public roads must display reflective or fluorescent front, side, and rear markings that meet or exceed the design, performance, and mounting specifications adopted by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Creates exceptions. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 12-205.2 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/12-205.2 new)
7     Sec. 12-205.2. Older implements of husbandry; display of
8 reflective material.
9     (a) On and after September 1, 2007, except as otherwise
10 provided in subsections (b) and (c), implements of husbandry
11 manufactured before January 1, 2003 and operated on public
12 roads must display reflective or fluorescent front, side, and
13 rear markings that meet or exceed the design, performance, and
14 mounting specifications adopted by the American Society of
15 Agricultural Engineers and published by that body as ASAE
16 S279.11 APR01.
17     (b) The left and right extremity markings of these
18 implements need not be mounted within the distances to
19 extremities required under ASAE S279.11 APR01 but must,
20 instead, be mounted as close as practicable to those
21 extremities.
22     (c) These implements may, but are not required to, display
23 the extremity lighting, turn signals, and flashing light
24 synchronization required under ASAE S279.11 APR01.
 
25     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
26 becoming law.
