SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of the George S. Kapas of
4 Plano on Friday, October 29, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on April 21, 1926, in Chicago to
6 Spiros "Steve" and Helen (Malady) Kapas; he was the sweetheart
7 of the Class of 1944 of Ottawa High School; he received his
8 Master of Education Degree from the University of Illinois in
9 Champaign; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the
11 United States Navy, having served in the Orient during World
12 War II; he was united in marriage on August 21, 1960, in
13 Chicago to the former Pauline Sainas, and they spent the next
14 44 happy years together; and
 
15     WHEREAS, During his younger years, Mr. Kapas was both a
16 science teacher and basketball coach in Mazon; then from 1960
17 to 2004, he and Paulina were the owners and operators of the
18 Town and Country Restaurant in Plano; he enjoyed the art of
19 conversation and was an extremely good listener; he was always
20 very interested in the lives of other people; and
 
21     WHEREAS, He was a member of the St. Athanasios Greek
22 Orthodox Church in Aurora and was a former member of both the
23 Lions Club and the Plano American Legion Post #395 in Plano; he
24 was a loving husband, father, son, and friend who will be
25 deeply missed by all who knew him; and
 
26     WHEREAS, The passing of George S. Kapas has been deeply
27 felt by many, especially his wife, Pauline Kapas; his children,
28 Steve Kapas, Sue Kapas, and Helen (Tim) Erdman; and his many
29 friends; he was preceded in death by his parents; therefore, be
30 it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 George S. Kapas, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
4 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest
8 condolences.
