SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Samuel M. "Jack" Swafford
4 of Marion on Friday, May 13, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Swafford was born on August 19, 1918, in
6 Marion to John Wesley and Edna (Groves) Swafford; he married
7 Barbara (Manier) Rains; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ;
9 he retired from the Marion V.A. Hospital, where he worked as a
10 fireman; he was a member of the Marion Masonic Lodge 89 AF &
11 AM, Marion Eagles Lodge 2457, and a lifetime member of Marion
12 VFW Post 1301; he served in the United States Army Air Corp;
13 and
 
14     WHEREAS, He loved his family and spending time with his
15 grandkids, as well as spending time fishing and hunting; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The passing of Samuel M. "Jack" Swafford has been
17 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Barbara; his son and
18 daughter-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Rains; his daughter and
19 son-in-law, Rhonda and Keith Soldner; his daughter-in-law,
20 Connie Swafford; his grandchildren, Cynthia and Scott Lentz,
21 Anne Swafford, Kevin and Rachel Soldner, Scott and Chasity
22 Rains, Sandra and Sean Hayes, Tena and Chuck Albright, Doug and
23 Erin Draper, and Cory Draper; his 12 great-grandchildren; and
24 his sister, Christine Boester; he was preceded in death by his
25 parents; his sons, Duane Swafford and Benny Rains; his two
26 brothers; and his four sisters; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
29 Samuel M. "Jack" Swafford, and we extend our sincere
30 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved

1 him; and be it further
 
2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
4 sympathy.
