SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of James "Jim" O. Lance of
4 Benton on July 9, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born in Rend City on May 27, 1921, the son
6 of Edward and Addie (Little) Lance; he married Billie (Adams)
7 Lance on October 21, 1978 in Benton; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a coal miner at Orient 2 before relocating
9 to Chicago, where he retired from Western Electric in 1976; he
10 was a World War II veteran, having served in the Tunisian,
11 Algeria, French-Moroccan, Naples-Foggrio, and Rome-Arno
12 Campaigns; he was an ammunition bearer of heavy mortars, as a
13 member of the 3rd Infantry Division making the first beach
14 landing in North Africa; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was a member of American Legion and faithfully
16 attended Flatts Baptist Church in Benton; he was a good man who
17 was loved by many; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
19 sisters, Clara, Beulah, and Audrey; his brother, Raymond; his
20 first wife, Mary Zivich; his special niece, Mona (Adams) Ing;
21 and his great-nephew, Christopher Adams; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of James Lance is felt by all who knew
23 and loved him, especially his wife, Billie; his nieces and
24 nephews; his special nieces, Pam (Adams) Rusher, Jeanette
25 (Booten) Trotter, and Carol Jean (Adams) Martin; his special
26 nephews, Martin Adams, David Rusher, Nelson Adams, and Larry
27 Lance; his sister-in-law, Beulah Lance; and his very special
28 great-niece Kate "Katie" Rusher; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2 James Lance and extend our sincerest condolences to his family
3 and friends; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
6 sympathy.
