SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Mitchell P. Shadid of Peoria on August 5, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Shadid was born November 27, 1924, in Clinton, Iowa, to Phillip and Edna Massad Shadid; he married Delores Griffiths on June 26, 1955, in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, having served as a radio operator, and was a member of Dunlap American Legion; he owned and operated Club Caravan Night Club with two of his brothers in downtown Peoria for many years; he then worked for the Peoria Housing Authority until retiring in 1989; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mitchell Shadid is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his daughter, Michelle (David) Krumholz; his sons, Phillip (Debbie), Mark, and Tom; his brothers, Bill (Nancy), George (Lorraine), and Fred (Jean); his sisters, Gladys Abraham, Pauline (John) Unes, Joan (Dick) Pettit, and Jeanette (John) Harris; and his five grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mitchell Shadid and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
