SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Alan C. Hultman of Downers Grove on Thursday, January 12, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hultman was born in La Grange and grew up in Downers Grove, attending Washington Elementary School and Downers Grove Community High School; he valiantly served as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II and obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and then attended the University of Illinois law school, graduating in 1950; and

WHEREAS, He opened a law practice in Downers Grove and got involved in professional and community activities, serving as president and committee member of the Du Page County Bar Association and also as a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, a fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, and as a commissioner of the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Supreme Court; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, the United Way, the Downers Grove Plan Commission, and also was a member Citizens National Bank board of directors; he was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church; and

WHEREAS, He had a sense of duty and a sense of enjoying life; he especially enjoyed golf and was a staunch Republican and a great admirer of Abraham Lincoln; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Alan C. Hultman has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Lucille; his children, Leslie Ann Hollowed and Bradford Alan; his brothers, Kenneth and Peter; and his two grandsons; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Alan C. Hultman, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
