SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Robert Dale Schuler of Dow on Friday, May 5, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on January 19, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Robert L. and Vivian, nee Henderson, Schuler; he married the former Dorothy R. Hayes on August 17, 1968, in Longview, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Schuler had the distinction of being one of the youngest agents ever inducted into the FBI; he joined the bureau at age 18 and spent four years as a clerk in the headquarters office in Washington, D.C., while getting a degree at Southeastern University; he then became an agent for one year in Philadelphia, before being assigned to the Alton office in 1970; in 1975 he was named senior resident agent of the Alton office and remained there until that office closed; he then moved to the Fairview Heights bureau office, where he stayed until he retired in 2000, after a 35-year career; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, the First United Methodist Church, Jerseyville, and the Gideon Society; he enjoyed gardening and golfing as a member of Lockhaven Country Club; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Robert Dale Schuler has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Dot; his daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Keith Bryant, his twin grandsons, Austin Robert and Riley Jackson Bryant; his daughter, Amy Schuler; his brother, Larry Schuler; his mother, Vivian Schuler; and his mother-in-law, Violet Hayes; he was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Schuler, and his father-in-law, Raymond L. Hayes; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Dale Schuler, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
