SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Edna Earl Scott-Brown of Waukegan on May 6, 2006; and

WHEREAS, She was born on November 10, 1939, to Ethel Mannon Kendrick and Edward William Scott of Belzoni, Mississippi; she gave her life to Christ at a very early age and was truly blessed and anointed with a divine gift from God; and

WHEREAS, She was a homemaker and caregiver for many years; she served as the music director at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Waukegan, worked with the Baptist Youth Fellowship, and was the Directress of Music at the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church for almost 50 years; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Ed Scott; her husband, Bob Brown; her sisters, Viola Powell, Marion Anderson, and Earline Harris; her brother, George Scott; other brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and cousins; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Edna Earl Scott-Brown has been deeply felt by many, especially her daughter, Tanya (Tammy) Brown; her sons, Kenneth (Donna) Brown and Randy Brown; her step-children, Robert Jr., Shirley, Jean, and Alberta; her sisters, Mrs. Martha E. Woods and Mrs. Ollie Walker; her brothers, Taylor Scott and Charles (Louise) Scott; her foster children, Dominique, Marcus, Lenora, and Tommie; her godchildren, Rayanne, Daryl, Charletta, and Katie; her grandchildren, Kim (Tot), Kari, Kiara, Joiya, Nikki, T'Dara (Patrick), Lawrence, Shadonna, Torren, Alexandria, Jeffrey, and Gordon; her great-grandchildren, Syncere and Synai; her godmother, Mrs. Pearl Long; her musical children, Sondra Thomas and Master Malcolm Williams; her two special friends; and her many other relatives and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edna Earl Scott-Brown, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
