| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Chief Warrant Officer | 4 |
| Second Class Christopher Brian Donaldson of Effingham on | 5 |
| Friday, May 5, 2006, while serving his country in Afghanistan; | 6 |
| and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on May 17, 1977, in Effingham to Bill | 8 |
| and Lynne (Laue) Donaldson; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 1995 graduate of Effingham High School, | 10 |
| where he played football and baseball; on September 12, 1997, | 11 |
| he enlisted in the U. S. Army and had served for the past nine | 12 |
| years; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant as an | 14 |
| enlisted soldier; he went on to graduate and be commissioned as | 15 |
| a Chief Warrant Officer; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Donaldson worked as an | 17 |
| avenger crewman for two years then as a Chinook helicopter | 18 |
| repairman for five years; after working as a Chinook Helicopter | 19 |
| repairman, he was accepted into Officer Training School, where | 20 |
| he graduated as a Warrant Officer and went on to become a | 21 |
| Chinook helicopter pilot; and
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, He did two overseas tours, one in Korea and one in | 23 |
| Germany; he received the Campaign Medal and the NATO Medal for | 24 |
| completion of his mission as a helicopter repairman in Kosovo; | 25 |
| he also received the Army Commendation Medal (second award), | 26 |
| Army Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service medal, | 27 |
| Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development ribbon, | 28 |
| Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon (second award), | 29 |
| Expert Marksmanship Qualification badge for grenade throwing, | 30 |
| and Sharpshooter badge for rifle marksmanship; and |

| WHEREAS, Chief Donaldson was serving in Afghanistan | 2 |
| attached to the 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Drum, New | 3 |
| York; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Chief Warrant Officer Christopher | 5 |
| B. Donaldson has been deeply felt by many, especially his | 6 |
| father, Bill Donaldson; his mother, Lynne Donaldson; his | 7 |
| brothers, Jason and Ryan Donaldson; his grandparents, Thelma | 8 |
| and Orville Laue; his aunts, Anita (husband, Jeff) Kline, Diann | 9 |
| Louderback, and Beth (husband, Jinn) Phelps; his uncle, Don | 10 |
| (wife, Faith) Donaldson; his cousins, Nick Kline, Matt Kline, | 11 |
| Mitch Kline, Austin Kline, Sara Louderback, Carrie Phelps, | 12 |
| Kendra Donaldson, and Kelsey Donaldson; he was preceded in | 13 |
| death by his grandparents, John and Mary Donaldson, and his | 14 |
| cousin, Stephanie Louderback; therefore, be it
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 16 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 17 |
| Chief Warrant Officer Second Class Christopher Brian | 18 |
| Donaldson, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 19 |
| friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further | 20 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Chief Donaldson and | 21 |
| his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making | 22 |
| the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 24 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest | 25 |
| sympathy.
