SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Idella Green of South Holland on Sunday, August 6, 2006; and

WHEREAS, She was born January 5, 1923, in Belzoni, Mississippi, to Connie and Alberta Harris Gamble; she married William Green on November 8, 1942; he preceded her in death on February 22, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Green worked at General Electric, retiring in 1975; she was a community activist in the 34th ward and was a community leader in the Morgan Park community for 37 years; she spent her last ten years in the 29th district as a political supporter; she was a member of Pathway To Victory Ministries; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Margarite Green; her brother, L.H. Gamble; and her parents, Connie and Alberta Harris Gamble; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Idella Green has been deeply felt by many, especially her daughters, Twin Green and Mary (Harold) McDonald; her sons, William 'Bill' (Dorothy), Waddell (Linda), Derrick, and Larry (Tina) Green; her 16 grandchildren; her 26 great-grandchildren; and her two nieces; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Idella Green, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, her friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
