| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express | | 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Marine | | 4 |
| Sergeant Thomas Michael Gilbert of Downers Grove, Illinois; and
| | 5 |
| WHEREAS, Thomas Gilbert died on October 25, 2006, defending | | 6 |
| his country while serving his second tour in Iraq; and
| | 7 |
| WHEREAS, He was a 2000 graduate of Downers Grove North High | | 8 |
| School; he attended Lester and Herrick schools; and
| | 9 |
| WHEREAS, He was a marketing major at Western Michigan | | 10 |
| University; he joined the Marine Reserve in September of 2000; | | 11 |
| he was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve's 1st Battalion, 24th | | 12 |
| Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, based out of Grand | | 13 |
| Rapids, Michigan; and

| WHEREAS, Thomas Gilbert loved hunting, fishing, riding his | | 15 |
| motorcycle, wakeboarding, and outdoor sports of all kinds; and
| | 16 |
| WHEREAS, Thomas Gilbert was the loving son of Michael and | | 17 |
| Theresa Gilbert; in addition to his parents, he leaves behind | | 18 |
| to cherish his memory: his sisters, Tamara Gilbert and Trisha | | 19 |
| (Brad) Pelhank; his grandparents, George and Joann Cooper and | | 20 |
| Patricia Gilbert; his aunts and uncles, Mary (Bob) Tennyson, | | 21 |
| Sharon Gilbert, Dan (Marla) Gilbert, Margaret Tovey, Rick | | 22 |
| (Sandy) Gilbert, Charles Gilbert, Theresa Gilbert, Dave | | 23 |
| (Peggy) Cooper, and Patti (Rick) Lahey; his cousins, John | | 24 |
| (Christina) Gilbert, Bridget (Reed) Knowlton, Amy Gilbert, | | 25 |
| Jennifer (Luke) Crawford, Nick Gilbert, Elizabeth Gilbert, Max | | 26 |
| Gilbert, Luis Gilbert, MaryJo Gilbert, Josh Mattox, Eddie | | 27 |
| Mattox, Ricky Gilbert, Brian Gilbert, Ryan Severin, Kalyn | | 28 |
| Cooper, Tanya Cooper, and Adam Cooper; he was preceded in death | | 29 |
| by his cousin, Connor Lahey; his grandfather, Harvey "Jack"; | | 30 |
| and his uncles, Jim Gilbert and Rick Tovey; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | | 2 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we again express our | | 3 |
| sympathies to the family of Marine Sergeant Thomas Gilbert for | | 4 |
| his tremendous sacrifice; and be it further
| | 5 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 6 |
| presented to the family of Thomas Gilbert.
