SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Paul Davis of Herrin, Illinois, passed away on
3 October 31, 2006; and
 
4     WHEREAS, He was born December 25, 1937, in Herrin; his
5 parents were Paul L. and Vera (Darnell) Davis; he married
6 Barbara Stratton in 1964 in Herrin; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a lifetime
8 member of the Herrin Elks Club, and a member of the Eagles,
9 VFW, and American Legion; he loved karaoke, and he was a member
10 of the First Presbyterian Church; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Paul Davis was an alderman in Ward 4 for several
12 years and worked for C.B. & Q. Railroad and the Williamson
13 County Sheriff; he received the Legion of Honor and Silver Star
14 for bravery after being shot in the line of duty; he also
15 worked for Ziegler Coal; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was a 1955 graduate of Herrin High School; he
17 was a licensed official with ISHA; he also attended Southern
18 Illinois University; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Paul Davis is survived by his wife, Barbara; his
20 daughters and their husbands, Dana L. and James Jeralds,
21 Heather D. and Chad Threlkeld, and Mindy A. and Shane McRoy;
22 his brother, William R. Davis, and his wife, Rosemari; his
23 father-in-law, Roy Shelton; his grandchildren, Kayley Jeralds,
24 Christofer Jeralds, Brandon Threlkeld, Hunter McRoy, Tucker
25 McRoy and Alex McRoy, Logan Threlkeld, and Dylan McRoy; his
26 nieces, Kristina Simmons and Kimbery Kayfes; and his many close
27 friends; he was preceded in death by his parents and one
28 beloved son, Christopher Paul Davis; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 his family and friends, the death of Paul Davis; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Paul Davis.
