SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

30 ILCS 500/45-55

Amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Provides that in awarding contracts requiring the procurement of plastic products, preference may be given to an otherwise qualified bidder or offeror who will fulfill the contract through the use of plastic products made from Illinois hemp by-products (currently, corn by-products only).

AN ACT concerning finance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by changing Section 45-55 as follows:

(30 ILCS 500/45-55)

Sec. 45-55. Corn-based and hemp-based plastics. In awarding contracts requiring the procurement of plastic products, preference may be given to an otherwise qualified bidder or offeror who will fulfill the contract through the use of plastic products made from Illinois corn by-products or Illinois hemp by-products.
