HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the East St. Louis High School boys track and field team, the Flyers, on winning the 2019 Illinois High School Association Class 2A Boys State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Flyers overwhelmed the competition as it scored 84 points to win the championship on May 25, 2019 at O'Brien Field on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston; and

WHEREAS, It is the 12th championship for the Flyers and the first since they won the Class 3A championship in 2016; since 2007, they have won three championships and finished as the runner-up three additional times; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the East St. Louis High School boys track and field team, the Flyers, on winning the 2019 Illinois High School Association Class 2A Boys State Championship, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Flyers' coaches and players as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
