HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Stanton Joseph Bond, who passed away on February 13, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was born in Turlock, California to Joseph and Norma Bond on July 22, 1949; he graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1971, where he was on the Dean's list and earned a degree in advertising, marketing, and public relations; and

WHEREAS, While in school, Stanton Bond interned for the Carbondale City Manager's Office and excelled in his work; and

WHEREAS, While pursuing his master's degree, Stanton Bond received several awards for his work, including a commendation from Mayor Neil Eckert and a citation from Governor Richard B. Ogilvie for service to Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Following his passion for city planning and building, Stanton Bond served as an elected official in several capacities for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Outside of his career as an elected official, Stanton Bond continued his passion for development, working as an Assistant Director of Industrial Development in Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond helped found Hamilton and Bond Advertising, Inc., where he also served as president; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond recently served as the Chief Deputy Clerk for the Kane County Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond trained for and organized a Neighborhood Watch in his own subdivision and served as a captain for that effort; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was the Chairperson of Montgomery's Beautification Committee; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was a founding member of the Montgomery Foundation, which provides scholarships to Montgomery students and funds special needs classes in elementary schools; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially during community events; and

WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was an avid boater, fisherman, and motorcyclist; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stanton Joseph Bond and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stanton Bond as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
