SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Elbert Ford, who passed away on May 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ford was born in Creal Springs to William E. and Sylvia L. Ford on April 26, 1934; after attending Southern Illinois University, he moved to Elgin, where he continued his education; his first marriage resulted in the birth of his four children; in 1969, he married Jennifer Fraley; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ford began his career at the Elgin Mental Health Center, where he worked as an administrator for many years until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ford enjoyed traveling, mostly road trips; his many adventures with family members resulted in everlasting memories; his last long road trip was a 5,400 mile trek that included Las Vegas, Southern California, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park; he enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas and participating in events at the World Series of Poker; he was proud of his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; he will be remembered for his sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ford was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, David Tanner; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ford is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his daughters, Pamela Sue (James) Tanner and Patricia Ann (Larry) Thiede; his sons, Michael Richard (Laura) Ford and Robert Alan (Debra) Ford; his grandchildren, Courtney Patricia Tanner, Taylor Sage Ford, and Sarah Ann Ford; his brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Ford; his nephew, Matthew Ford; his niece, Julie (Bert) Bruyn; and his grandnephews, Chase and Noah Bruyn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Elbert Ford and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Ford as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
