SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rose (Daydif) Eaton of Waukegan, who
4passed away on July 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rose Eaton was born to Chris and Zaka Daydif on
6October 10, 1922; she lived in Waukegan her entire life; as a
7young woman, she was a hostess with the USO, ultimately
8becoming the president of the local chapter; she spent many
9hours at the USO at the Waukegan Armory dancing with servicemen
10and, when asked, writing letters to their family and friends;
11in 1945, she was nominated for a prestigious award from the USO
12and was ultimately one of ten national finalists; she married
13Homer "Buck" Eaton on July 17, 1948; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rose Eaton began working in the Personnel
15Department at Abbott Laboratories after graduating high
16school; later, she worked at the Great Lakes Naval Base in the
17chaplain's department, where she supported priests, rabbis,
18and ministers who counseled the young servicemen; she was
19ultimately transferred to the Chapel by the Lake and retired
20from that position in 1984; and
 
21    WHEREAS, After retirement, Rose Eaton was a volunteer at
22the Waukegan Public Library and worked at the Reference Desk,

1where she assisted patrons at the library and handled telephone
2requests; she also worked in the accessory department at Carson
3Pirie Scott, which fulfilled her creative interests; she was a
4member of Grace Missionary Church in Zion; she had many talents
5and excelled as a seamstress; she loved to cook and to collect
6recipes; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rose Eaton was preceded in death by her husband of
861 years, Buck; her parents; and her brothers, Michael Daydif
9Sr. and Karl Daydif; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rose Eaton is survived by her daughters, Janis
11Eaton and Debra Eaton; her nephews, Michael (Cathy) Daydif and
12Bruce (Susan) Daydif; and her nieces, Karen Shuler and Sue
13Harvey; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Rose (Daydif) Eaton and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Rose Eaton as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
