SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene D. "Gene" Heller of El Paso, who passed away on October 27, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Gene Heller was born in Secor to Martin "Bud" and Louise Schieber Heller on November 19, 1929; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Doris A. Wadsworth in El Paso on October 1, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Gene Heller and Doris founded Heller Ford in El Paso in February of 1957; he served as chairman of Ford Dealers Advertising Funds; and

WHEREAS, Gene Heller was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of El Paso, where he served as an elder; he was named El Paso Senior Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Gene Heller was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; and his brother, Paul Heller; and

WHEREAS, Gene Heller is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Higgins and Amy (Brian) Copple; his sons, Dan (Karen) Heller and Marty (Shelly) Heller; his exchange student, Alfredo "Chicho" (Tricia) Fernandez; his grandchildren, Brandi Higgins, Neil (Jennifer) Heller, Adam (Jaclyn) Heller, Moli (Alex) Koulos, Jake (Jordan Johns) Heller, Matt Copple, and Meghan Heller; and his great-grandchildren, Halle, Henry, Harrison, and Hayden Heller, plus two more on the way; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene D. "Gene" Heller and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gene Heller as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
