HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Jacksonville Country
4Club on its 100th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Jacksonville Country Club was started on July
621, 1899 at its original location south of Mound Road,
7northwest of what is now the YMCA in Jacksonville; and
 
8    WHEREAS, On May 1, 1924, the current location of the
9Jacksonville Country Club at 100 Country Club Road was
10purchased by the trustees of Jacksonville Country Club
11Estates, which included H.W. King, H.K. Chenoweth, A.H.
12Dollear, C.M. Bell, Paul D. Moriarty, Nelson McMurphy, James
13Elliot, C.Y. Rowe, and H.P. Samuell; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Jacksonville Country Club clubhouse and nine
15hole golf course opened on July 4th, 1925, followed by the
16tennis court built in 1928, the swimming pool completed in
171955, and the 18 hole golf course finished in 1966; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Jacksonville Country Club pro shop was built
19in 1977, followed by the formal dining room added in 1991 and
20the new swimming pool and bathhouse constructed in 1994; and

1    WHEREAS, In 2023, the Centennial Fund was launched to
2address various projects, including updating the clubhouse
3together with the bar and fairway room, renovating the golf
4course bunkers, resurfacing the tennis and pickleball courts,
5purchasing a new golf cart fleet, upgrading computer software
6and hardware, improving the grounds and kitchen equipment, and
7retiring the mortgage; and
 
8    WHEREAS, These improvements over the years, as well as the
9incredible members, administrators, and atmosphere, have made
10the Jacksonville Country Club one of the hidden gems of
11Illinois; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate the Jacksonville Country Club on their
15centennial anniversary, and we wish the club continued success
16in the future; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the Jacksonville Country Club as a symbol of our
19esteem and respect.
