1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5 Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6 amended by changing Section 2310-371.5 as follows:
 
7     (20 ILCS 2310/2310-371.5)  (was 20 ILCS 2310/371)
8     Sec. 2310-371.5 371. Heartsaver AED Fund; grants. Subject
9 to appropriation, the Department of Public Health has the power
10 to make matching grants from the Heartsaver AED Fund, a special
11 fund created in the State treasury, to any school in the State
12 public school, public park district, forest preserve district,
13 conservation district, municipal recreation department, public
14 college, or public university to assist in the purchase of
15 required to have an Automated External Defibrillator pursuant
16 to the Physical Fitness Facility Medical Emergency
17 Preparedness Act (Colleen O'Sullivan Law). Applicants for AED
18 grants must demonstrate that they have funds to pay 50% of the
19 cost of the AEDs AED's for which matching grant moneys are
20 sought. Any school, public park district, forest preserve
21 district, conservation district, municipal recreation
22 department, college, or university applying for the grant shall
23 not receive more than one grant from the Heartsaver AED Fund

1 each fiscal year. Matching grants authorized under this Section
2 shall be limited to one AED per eligible physical fitness
3 facility. The State Treasurer shall accept and deposit into the
4 Fund all gifts, grants, transfers, appropriations, and other
5 amounts from any legal source, public or private, that are
6 designated for deposit into the Fund.

8     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
9 becoming law.
