AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by adding Section 54.7 as follows:

(225 ILCS 60/54.7 new)

Sec. 54.7. Physician delegation of authority; administration of intense pulsed light system. A physician may delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system or a laser for the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, electrologist, or other personnel, provided those persons operating the intense pulsed light system or laser have adequate and appropriate training in the use of the device, as recommended by the manufacturer and as defined by rule.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
