1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor those who make a
4 substantial impact on the citizens of this State; and

5     WHEREAS, In the 1950s, Aurora Mayor Paul Egan was
6 responsible for the relocation of Route 30 from its previous
7 route through downtown Aurora to its current location that
8 passes along or through the entire length of the Village of
9 Montgomery from east to west; and

10     WHEREAS, The relocation of Route 30 has greatly facilitated
11 transportation and development in the Village of Montgomery,
12 allowing the local economy to flourish; therefore, be it

13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
15 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of U.S.
16 Route 30 between Route 47 and Route 34 the Paul Egan Memorial
17 Highway in honor of former Aurora Mayor Paul Egan and his work;
18 and be it further

19     RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
20 is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
21 State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs

1 giving notice of the name of the Paul Egan Memorial Highway;
2 and be it further

3     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
4 presented to the Village of Montgomery Board of Trustees, the
5 Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the
6 Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
