HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Gregory A. Scafidi, II, of Boy Scout Troop 409, in Itasca, earned his Eagle Scout recognition on November 29, 2007; and

WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

WHEREAS, Greg supervised the construction, with the help of numerous other scouts and friends, of a split rail fence which outlines and beautifies the northern and western borders of the Spring Brook Nature Center; and

WHEREAS, Greg has accumulated a total of 28 merit badges and has attended several Boy Scout camps in Wisconsin; he is a member of the Order of the Arrow; he received the Parvuli Dei Religious Award, Conservation Award, and recently completed enough merit badges for the Bronze Eagle Palm; and

WHEREAS, He sailed the Atlantic Ocean in the summer of 2007 while attending Florida's National High Adventure Seabase; he completed the Three Fires Council National Youth Leadership Training course in 2007; and he currently serves as a Patrol Leader and Troop Historian; and

WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Greg joins an elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among its members an extraordinary number of this nation's great leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors of society; and

WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout reflects favorably upon the recipient, his family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; he will receive the official Rank on May 4, 2008; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we join his family and friends in congratulating Gregory A. Scafidi, II, upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, and we commend him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eagle Scout Gregory A. Scafidi, II, as an expression of our respect and esteem.
