HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band on the occasion of its 1st place victories at the Outback Bowl; and

WHEREAS, The Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band was awarded 1st place in its division and was named Grand Champion overall in the Outback Bowl parade; the band participated in the National Events Outback Bowl Music Festival and was also awarded the Outback Bowl's "Battle of the Bands" award for achieving the highest point total for all events combined; and

WHEREAS, The Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band's flag squad was awarded the 1st place trophy for Best Band Front during the event; the band's Jazz Ensemble was awarded 1st place in its division and named Grand Champion overall; the band's Wind Symphony was awarded first place in its division; and

WHEREAS, The Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band also performed to a capacity crowd at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and concluded the tour with a performance at the Outback Bowl half-time show with 15 other high school bands from the United States and Canada, in front of a crowd of 60,000 fans and a broadcast on ESPN; and

WHEREAS, The Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band's impressive performance at the Outback Bowl is worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band on the occasion of its 1st place victories at the Outback Bowl and wish the band members continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Schaumburg High School Saxon Marching Band as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
