HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners and employees of the Galena Gazette on the occasion of winning the Sam Zito Award of Excellence on March 7, 2008; and

WHEREAS, The Sam Zito Award of Excellence is an annual award named in honor of the longtime sales representative from Crystal Lake, Sam Zito; the award is presented to a weekly newspaper that shows outstanding effort in its advertising; and

WHEREAS, In addition to the Sam Zito Trophy win, the Galena Gazette was also awarded 1st place in the Class B Division, which consists of newspapers with a circulation under 8,000; other individual awards included 1st place for Best ad series, Best single house ad, Best shared page, Creative use of one color in an ad, and Best regularly scheduled special section; and

WHEREAS, The Galena Gazette's commitment to excellence in both its advertising and journalism is worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the owners and employees of the Galena Gazette on the occasion of winning the Sam Zito Award of Excellence and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Galena Gazette as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
