HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edward
4 Israel Megrant of Plainfield, who passed away on March 12,
5 2008; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Edward Israel Megrant was born in Chicago on
7 September 30, 1932 to the late Edward and Carmella (Meschino)
8 Megrant; he adored his step-father, Dominic Nuccio, who raised
9 him from a young age; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Ed loved his guitar and enjoyed playing at church
11 with his organist and dear friend, Donna Morris for over 30
12 years; Ed was co-owner of the Magnolia Cafe in downtown
13 Plainfield for 6 years, a well-known and well-liked gathering
14 spot; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Ed worked for Material Service for 22 years and
16 was co-owner of multiple restaurants; Ed was a member of
17 Calvary Apostolic Church, Romeoville; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Ed Megrant was preceded in death by his parents;
19 his brother, Alon (1986); and his son, Tony (1991); and
 
20     WHEREAS, Ed Megrant is survived by his loving wife and best

1 friend, Peg (nee Farmer) Megrant; his loving children, Dominic,
2 Dawn, Dustin, Desiree, Tony, and Tommy; he is also survived by
3 one son and two daughters from a previous marriage; he was the
4 cherished Papa of 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and
5 two great-great grandchildren; one brother, two sisters, and a
6 favorite uncle, Albert, and two faithful companions, Dobi and
7 Maggie; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Edward
11 Megrant; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Edward Megrant as a symbol of our
14 sincere sympathy.
