HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4 States Army Private First Class Shane D. Penley of Sauk
5 Village, who gave his life on April 6, 2008, in honor of his
6 country while serving in Iraq; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Shane Penley grew up in Sauk Village and graduated
8 from Bloom Trail High School in Steger in May of 2007; he
9 joined the United States Army in June of 2007; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Shane Penley was assigned to the 2nd Battalion,
11 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st
12 Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky;
13 he was dispatched to Iraq in December of 2007; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He loved football and wrestling and was a fan of
15 both the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his paternal
17 grandparents, John G. and Madalyn R. Penley; his paternal
18 great-grandparents, Roy and Golda Penley and Howard and Allie
19 Vezey; his maternal great-grandfather, John McDorman; and his
20 uncle, Danny Penley; and

1     WHEREAS, Shane Penley is survived by his parents, David and
2 Dena (nee, Barrick) Penley; his sisters, Crystal, Ashley, and
3 Amber Penley; his maternal grandparents, Wayne (Patricia)
4 Barrick; his maternal great-grandmother, Mary McDorman; as
5 well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore,
6 be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9 honor the memory of United States Army Private First Class
10 Shane D. Penley and his willingness to serve his country, which
11 led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of United States Army Private First
14 Class Shane D. Penley as a symbol of our respect and sympathy.
