HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Marian Central Catholic High School Football team, the Hurricanes, recently fought a battle for the IHSA Class 5A Championship at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Hurricanes, who entered the championship game with a perfect record of 13-0, were defeated by the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones with a final score of 35 to 14; the Cyclones put an end to the best Marian season in almost 20 years; and

WHEREAS, The Hurricanes, who won the State title 4 times in the 1980s, played for their first State title since 1989; they won the Suburban Catholic Conference; and

WHEREAS, The Hurricanes were led by Head Coach Ed Brucker, Assistant Coaches Tim Lalor, Dirk Stanger, Terry Stanger, and Steve Spoden; and Trainer Mike Hueser; and

WHEREAS, The school Superintendent is Tom Landers; the school Principal is Charles Rakers; and the Athletic Director is Mike McGovern; and

WHEREAS, The Hurricanes were led by team captains Bryan Bulaga, Jon Budmayr, Devin Kusek, and Sean Cwynar; members of the team included Charlie Levy, Eric Reibel, Jordan Peart, Ryan Polizzi, Aaron Nichols, Nikko Aguilar, Kyle Brennan, Pat Wenzel, Dan Jacobsen, Ryan Szudarski, Adam Szudarski, Eli McGuire, Adam Olson, Matt Hanson, Brett Micek, Doug Simpson, Joe Peckenpaugh, Karsten Hamilton-Smith, Chris Kunzweiler, Brad Dzemske, T. J. Pappas, Alex Rothlisberger, Kevin Green, Conrad Smith, Michael Forti, Greg Whalen, Jack Gilleland, Nick Budreck, Matt Stapleton, Eric Parker, Eric Degnan-Schmit, Nick Gruebnau, Brett Leahy, Matt Vucovich, Jacob Rosales, Kevin Conlon, John Hussey, Cody O'Neil, Eric Gustufson, George Herina, Brandon Smith, Aaron Lloyd, Chris Behler, and John Miceli; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Hurricanes on a great season of football; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the players and coaches of the Marian Central Catholic High School Hurricanes.
