HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of United States Marine Corporal Allen Christian Roberts of Arcola, who was killed in action in Iraq on November 27, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Allen Christian Roberts was born May 27, 1986 in Tuscola, the son of Ronald Allen and Jaye (Strader) Roberts; and

WHEREAS, Allen Roberts was a 2004 graduate of Arcola High School, where he was on the football and basketball teams, yearbook staff, drama club, and AFS; as a youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts; he loved cars and was an avid movie fan, knowing many of the characters and memorizing many of the lines from his favorite movies; and he was a member of the Walnut Grove Christian Church of Arcola; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Roberts won several awards for his military service, including the Iraq Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expedition Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal; he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal posthumously; and

WHEREAS, Allen Roberts was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Almond "Bill" and Bernadine Roberts; his maternal grandfather, Allen C. Strader; and his aunt, Nedra Meade; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his mother, Jaye Roberts; his father, Ron Roberts; his maternal grandmother, Jeanne Strader; his aunts and uncles, Joella Glenn and her husband, Jerry, Janet Nacke and her husband, Bill, Carter "Corky" Strader and his wife, Paula, Jeannine Bertsch and her husband, Rod, Joy Tuttle and her husband, Mike, Lee Roberts and his friend, Debbie Dorsey, Larry Roberts and his wife, Sherry, Jerry Roberts and his wife, Bunnie, Kenny Roberts and his wife, Kathy, and Paula Griffith and her husband, Rick; his cousins; his special friend, Katrina "Kat" Chavez; and his dogs, Jaeger and Stella; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of United States Marine Corporal Allen Christian Roberts; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Corporal Roberts and his willingness to serve our country which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Corporal Allen Christian Roberts, along with our utmost respect.
