HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. Turner of Belvidere, who passed away on April 22, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born on December 25, 1932, in Belvidere, the son of Henry E. "Hank" and Lucille M. "Suzie" (Stehley) Turner; he graduated from Belvidere High School and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and

WHEREAS, On October 18, 1964 he married Roberta Flemming in Belvidere; he served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955; and

WHEREAS, He was the former owner of Central Tire and Battery, prior to becoming the Belvidere Township Supervisor in 1981; he was the director of the Township Officials of Illinois for more than fifteen years, and president of the Supervisors' Division in 2003-2004; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Belvidere Board of Realtors, the Belvidere Chamber of Commerce, the Township Officials of Illinois, the Belvidere IOU Club, Belvidere Masonic Lodge 60 AFAM, the Freeport Valley Consistory, the Tebala Shrine Temple, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Kishwaukee Chapter of SAR, Growth Dimensions Board, the Saturday Morning Coffee Club, and many others; and he served as Chairman of the Boone County Republican Committee and as State County Chairman; and

WHEREAS, He is remembered as a great Wisconsin Badger fan; he is survived by his wife, Roberta; his children, Jill (Terry) Phillips and Robert E. (Lisa) Turner; his grandchildren, Jacob and Benjamin; and many friends, family members, and neighbors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert L. Turner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert L. Turner as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
