HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sandra Sowers on the occasion of her retirement from the Grundy County Housing Authority Board after 14 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Sowers served as a Commissioner on the Grundy County Housing Authority Board for 14 years until her retirement in May of 2008; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Sowers has been an active member of her community; she served as Director of the Grundy Development Corporation Board, which provides housing for seniors, until May of 2008; she served as a Trustee on the County Line Kickers Board and served as its Treasurer for 6 years; she is currently in her third year as President of the Country Meadows Homeowners Condominium Association, where she resides; she is a Past President of the Danner-Madsen American Legion Auxiliary Unit #663 and is currently the unit's legislative representative; she served as Vice-President of the District 12 ALA from 2001 until 2002; she served as chairperson for the Finance and Photo committees for Division 2, District 12 ALA from 2002 until 2003 and as Historian for the ALA, District 12 from 2002 until 2004; she is also a past Garfield Township Clerk and a past Finance Commissioner of the Gardner Town Board; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Sowers is a member of the Coal City United Methodist Church and the Gardner Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Sowers is a godmother to two nephews and one great-great-nephew; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Sowers serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Sandra Sowers on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sandra Sowers as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
