HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Warriors of Tuscola High School on winning the 2006 IHSA Class 1A Football Championship; and

WHEREAS, At Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois, the Warriors defeated Aledo High School in a 35-20 victory to claim their school's first State title in any sport; and

WHEREAS, Tuscola quarterback John Wienke passed for 384 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the team to this moment; and

WHEREAS, Through hard work and determination, the Warriors pulled off a stunning victory, and fans of the team yelled until some lost their voices, excited over this impressive accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, The Warriors are Travis Surma, Jerad Barr, John Wienke, Johnny Ervin, Austen Schultz, Richard Buckner, Dane Winn, Brad Donnals, Blake Bassett, Clayton Meyer, Zack Martin, Auste Shelmadine, Tyler Carter, Josh Scribner, Nate Phipps, Stephen Bosch, Travis Close, Shane Albert, Nick Hanke, Joe Vandeventer, Gunnar Edwards, Josh Nichols, Brent Harris, Cody Chenoweth, Johnny Marcrum, Shane Jaeger, Zach Bosch, Broc Winn, Jesse Hall, Matt Bailey, Caleb Little, Wil Maxey, Colby Knerr, Joel Hilgendorf, Steven Lange, Ian Harp, Jordan Knerr, and Ben Edwards; team managers are Judson Wienke, Josh Brookins, Eric Crist, Blake Woodard, Emma Sementi, and Cale Sementi; and

WHEREAS, Tuscola Warrior Football is led by Head Coach Stan Wienke, Assistant Coaches Lenny Sementi, Andy Jones, Ryan Hornaday, Jason Spang, Pat Pierce, Ron O'Hearn, and Jason Van Pelt, and training staff Chad Hopkins and Dr. Robert Middleton; the school principal is Kyle Ransom and the Superintendent is Joe Burgess; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Warriors of Tuscola High School on their first State championship and look forward to many more; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the young men and women of Tuscola High School on behalf of their winning football team.
