HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Fire Chief David Belskamper of Macon on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, David Belskamper was born in rural Macon on October 23, 1930; he attended Macon Public Schools and graduated from Macon High School in 1949; and

WHEREAS, On January 3, 1951 he joined the United States Air Force and served until December 8, 1954; and

WHEREAS, David Belskamper married Mary Warner on May 18, 1952; together they raised five children; and

WHEREAS, He joined the South Macon Fire Department on March 15, 1957; he served as a fireman until becoming fire chief in the fall of 1986; and

WHEREAS, After fifty years of dedicated service to the community, David Belskamper has made the decision to retire on March 15, 2007; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Chief Belskamper for his half-century of service to the citizens of Illinois and congratulate him on his retirement and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Fire Chief David Belskamper as a symbol of our respect.
