HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the Federation of Suburban Pakistanis for the work they perform in their community; and

WHEREAS, The Federation of Suburban Pakistanis is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace and friendship between the Pakistani and American communities; and

WHEREAS, The Federation of Suburban Pakistanis will celebrate Pakistan's 61st Independence Day at a celebration on August 16, 2008 at the Village Green Amphitheater in Hoffman Estates; the celebration, which includes Pakistani music, cultural dance performances, and ethnic Pakistani food, will give many Illinois residents a glimpse at the wonderful culture and traditions of Pakistan and its people; and

WHEREAS, The Federation of Suburban Pakistanis has helped to bridge Pakistani and American culture in many beneficial and enlightening ways; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the Federation of Suburban Pakistanis for the work they perform in their community and wish them a joyous and safe Pakistani Independence Day celebration; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Federation of Suburban Pakistanis President Ahmed Karim as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
