HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Brian Zimmerman, an esteemed resident of Batavia
3 and a student at Marmion Academy in Aurora, has achieved
4 national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by
5 receiving a 2007 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
 
6     WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential
7 Financial in partnership with the National Association of
8 Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across
9 America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to
10 serving their communities; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Brian Zimmerman earned this award by giving
12 generously of his time and energy to organize a school supply
13 drive that assembled and distributed 21,000 back-to-school
14 packages for disadvantaged children at 22 schools and
15 organizations in his area; for his "Crayons for Kids" drive,
16 Brian recruited volunteers, solicited sponsors, collected
17 school supplies, sorted and packed the items and delivered the
18 packages; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength
20 of our communities, and the overall vitality of American
21 society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young
22 people like Brian Zimmerman who use their considerable talents

1 and resources to serve others; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 congratulate Brian Zimmerman on being a recipient of a 2007
5 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, recognizing his
6 outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and
7 community spirit, and extend our best wishes for his continued
8 success and happiness; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to Brian Zimmerman as a symbol of our esteem.
