HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Tommy L. Martin of West Frankfort, who passed away on September 12, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born June 1, 1920, in West Frankfort to Elvis Lee Martin and Magdalene (Williams) Martin; and

WHEREAS, Tommy graduated from FCHS with the class of 1939; he was a member of Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort, Loyal Order of Kentucky Colonels, national vice president of Jaycee's, West Frankfort Chamber of Commerce, and West Frankfort Lion's Club; and

WHEREAS, Over the years he enjoyed playing golf at the Franklin County Country Club, thoroughbred horse racing at Ellis Park in Henderson, Kentucky, and bluegill fishing at Reelfoot Lake; he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed politics; he was district manager for the All American and Causality Insurance Company and had worked at the Ford Motor Company in Michigan; he worked for 37 years for the Department of Mine and Minerals, oil and gas division; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carolyn Martin; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Martin is survived by his son, Tim Martin; his two brothers, Bill and wife, Pat Martin and John and wife, Lois Martin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Tommy L. Martin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tommy L. Martin as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
