HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to thank Lee Dungey for his dedicated service to his nation during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Lee Dungey entered active service with the U.S. Marine Corps on March 16, 1944; after training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, he was assigned to the Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion of the 5th Marine Division for training at Camp Tarawa, Hawaii in support of troops on Iwo Jima; following the battle's end, he participated in the occupation of the Japanese mainland until June 26, 1946, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal; and

WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge, Lee Dungey returned to his pervious employer, Furnas Electric Company in Batavia, where he retired after 46 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Lee Dungey is a member of the Marine Corps League (Fox Valley Detachment 1233) and the American Legion in Batavia; and

WHEREAS, Lee Dungey and his wife of 67 years, Laura, have five children, eight grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Lee Dungey's great courage and devotion to his country are worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Lee Dungey for his dedicated service to his nation during World War II and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lee Dungey as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
