HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Commander John Schwartz and the members of Oswego American Legion Post 675 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Post; and

WHEREAS, The anniversary will be celebrated on November 8, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Over their history, American Legion Post 675 has contributed to the community in many ways, including a memorial dedicated to listing the sacrifices and accomplishments of veterans of the area; and

WHEREAS, The Post continues to participate in parades, provide honor guards for veterans' funerals, teaches flag etiquette and patriotism in the schools, conducts an annual oratorical contest in the two Oswego High Schools, annually co-sponsors the Senior Health Fair, and participates in many other community and veteran-related events; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the many people who make up American Legion Post 675 and wish them all the best in their continued endeavors to serve veterans; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Commander John Schwartz as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
