HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Pete McLenighan on twenty-five years as Executive Director of Stepping Stones; and

WHEREAS, Pete McLenighan has been a resident of Joliet since 1965; he is a 1971 graduate of Joliet West, a 1973 graduate of Joliet Community College, and a graduate of Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and with a Master of Arts degree in Management and Human Resources; and

WHEREAS, Pete has provided leadership resulting in Stepping Stones' recognition as one of the leading providers of substance abuse services in the State of Illinois; he has promoted collaborative working relationships among community organizations to better meet the needs of individuals in need of services from more than one organization; and

WHEREAS, He has served on the Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependency Association Board for eight years, the Community Service Council Board, and the Groundwork Advisory Board; he has chaired the Governmental Relations Committee for two years and chaired the Agencies United Board; and

WHEREAS, Pete was the recipient of the Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependency Association Board's George Schwab Distinguished Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Pete McLenighan is married to Renee and they have two children, Nick and Rachel; December 15, 2008 will mark 25 years of service and an awards ceremony will be held December 12 to recognize the milestone; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Pete McLenighan on twenty-five years of service and wish him continued success in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pete McLenighan as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
