HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jessie Denson on the occasion of her retirement as Missionary President of the Women's Ministries of the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago after more than 30 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Denson, born Jessie Mae Foster, came to Chicago from Americus, Georgia in 1947; and

WHEREAS, Hard working and determined, Jessie Denson was employed in the lithograph industry and built her life based upon the Word of God; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Denson attended the Apostolic Faith Church under the pastorate of Bishop John S. Holly and was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost; while there, she served with the young missionaries, sang in the choir, led the church's young people in praise service, and helped out wherever she was needed; and

WHEREAS, While attending the Apostolic Faith Church, Jessie Denson met and married Willie Denson; together, they had four children, Denise, Karen Jacquelyn, Angela, and Billy; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Denson was employed with Cook County for 28 years; she worked for 17 years in the Treasurer's office, then was promoted to Jury Supervisor, where she worked for 10 years until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Denson has served tirelessly in Chicago's 8th Ward, canvassing and encouraging her community to take part in their right as a citizen to vote; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Denson currently attends the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago, where she has served in the kitchen, worked with the women, and has been appointed to serve as Missionary President, where she served until her retirement; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jessie Denson on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jessie Denson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
