HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of United States Army Private First
5 Class William "Will" Newgard of Arlington Heights, who was
6 killed in action on December 29, 2006, while serving his
7 country in Iraq; and
 
8     WHEREAS, William Newgard was born November 27, 1986, he
9 attended Thomas Middle School and John Hersey High School in
10 Arlington Heights; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He served with the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry
12 Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division,
13 Schweinfurt, Germany; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Serving in Iraq, William Newgard drove an armored
15 Humvee that transported high-ranking U.S. Army officials to
16 meetings and inspections; he also had completed special
17 training to qualify as an expert marksman; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Private First Class William Newgard will be
19 honored with burial at Arlington National Cemetery, a location
20 that held a special spot in his heart; and

1     WHEREAS, William "Will" Newgard is survived by his parents,
2 J. Richard and Kaki Newgard; his sister, Holly; his girlfriend,
3 Samm Gercken; and his friend, Josh Munnell; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Pfc.
7 William Newgard; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Private First Class
9 William Newgard and his willingness to serve his country, which
10 led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Pfc. William Newgard as an
13 expression of our sympathy.
