HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of United States Army Private First Class William "Will" Newgard of Arlington Heights, who was killed in action on December 29, 2006, while serving his country in Iraq; and

WHEREAS, William Newgard was born November 27, 1986, he attended Thomas Middle School and John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights; and

WHEREAS, He served with the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Schweinfurt, Germany; and

WHEREAS, Serving in Iraq, William Newgard drove an armored Humvee that transported high-ranking U.S. Army officials to meetings and inspections; he also had completed special training to qualify as an expert marksman; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class William Newgard will be honored with burial at Arlington National Cemetery, a location that held a special spot in his heart; and

WHEREAS, William "Will" Newgard is survived by his parents, J. Richard and Kaki Newgard; his sister, Holly; his girlfriend, Samm Gercken; and his friend, Josh Munnell; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Pfc. William Newgard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Private First Class William Newgard and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pfc. William Newgard as an expression of our sympathy.
