HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Norm Kurtz on being elected President of the International Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs; and

WHEREAS, Norm Kurtz will be installed as President on July 12, 2007 during the biennial convention at Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale; and

WHEREAS, The International Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs is an organization of Jewish volunteers dedicated to observing the commandments of service and study; the Federation involves Jewish men in Jewish life by building and strengthening Men's Clubs in the Conservative movement; and

WHEREAS, The International Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs was founded in 1929, and today represents over 270 affiliated Men's Clubs and approximately 25,000 members in Conservative synagogues in the United States and Canada; and

WHEREAS, Norm Kurtz has been involved in the program "Hearing Men's Voices", which gives men the opportunity to express themselves about issues ranging from men's roles as fathers and sons to men's health and spiritual concerns; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Norm Kurtz on being elected the President of the International Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Norm Kurtz as a symbol of our esteem.
