HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Neil A. Bosanko of South Chicago on having the Bowen High School Auditorium renamed the Neil A. Bosanko Auditorium in his honor; and

WHEREAS, Neil Bosanko is a vibrant part of the South Chicago community; he was involved in the Afro-American History Club and worked in his neighborhood of Calumet Heights to arrange block clubs and community-wide clean ups while a student at Bowen High School; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Neil Bosanko entered the Peace Corps/VISTA program working in a project under the Governor's office called PROJECT FIND, focusing on the ethnic senior communities around Chicago and the Midwest; he worked to help older adults with language barriers find the services and support agencies they needed; and

WHEREAS, Neil Bosanko helped found and operate the COPA Arts Center at Bessmer Park; he took a position with the South Chicago Neighborhood House as a youth service coordinator and moved into the directorship of the center, remaining there for thirteen years; he later became the Executive Director of the South Chicago Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Neil Bosanko continued to give his time and energies to Bowen High School after he graduated; he has been involved as a Local School Council (LSC) member from the beginning; and

WHEREAS, Neil Bosanko has been a foster parent for over 25 years, specializing in teens with behavioral problems; and he has been involved with the community and in leadership roles for over 35 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Neil A. Bosanko of South Chicago on having the Bowen Auditorium renamed the Neil A. Bosanko Auditorium in his honor and thank him for his hard work and dedication to the schools, people, and the youth of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Neil Bosanko as a symbol of our respect.
