HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Danville Deputy Director of Police Bob Richard on being selected as the 74th annual AMBUCS First Citizen; and

WHEREAS, He has been the driving force behind several new projects in the community; two years ago he started The Polar Express and last year was instrumental in organizing the Lose the Training Wheels program which helps kids with disabilities learn to ride two-wheeled bicycles; he has also taken leading roles in the designing, fundraising, promoting, and building of several local playgrounds; and

WHEREAS, He has gained national recognition with his grant-writing abilities and was appointed to the National Ambility Committee where he expanded the Ambility program to include playgrounds, wheelchair ramps, and the ASK Computer program; and

WHEREAS, He joined AMBUCS in 1989; AMBUCS is a national service club dedicated to creating opportunities for independence for people with disabilities, especially children; and

WHEREAS, During his time with AMBUCS he was the spark plug for Danville High School Advocates to affiliate with AMBUCS in 1996; president in 1998; Project Manager of the Year in 1999; on the National AMBILITY Board in 2003 and 2004; co-chair Playground for Everyone at Winter Park in 1999; co-chair Independence Playground at Lincoln Park in 2004; co-chair AMBUCS Sprayground for Everyone at Garfield Park in 2007; and committee member for "Loose the Training Wheels" Camp in 2006 and 2007; he is a board member of the Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation, the First Illinois Credit Union, and Danville Renaissance; and

WHEREAS, The First Citizen Banquet to honor Deputy Director of Police Bob Richard will be held on April 23, 2007; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bob Richard on being selected as an AMBUCS First Citizen and thank him for his service to the community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Richard as token of our esteem.
